Generation X - The Thirteenth Generation

We were talking about generations last night, mainly because Angela is watching Quarterlife, this internet streaming show in which Generation Y twenty somethings question life the universe and everything, whilst really just being part of the problem. We're both part of Generation X because Gen Y is for people born between 1980-2000 or there abouts. Gen X on the other hand is people born in the 60's and 70's.

We came to the conclusion that not much ever really changes in the world. In Quarterlife one of the characters gets into a bit of an argument with his girlfriends mom, saying that her and her generation (pre X) were part of the hippy movement, part of the world changers, people that wanted better for the generations to come, but now have made their money and essentially sit on their asses doing nothing, whilst blaming the younger generation.

It's pretty depressing really, Generation X was like this cool generation, creating their own cultural identity in a lot of respects, but everyone regardless of generation just plods on through life, never really changing the big issues, even if we do sit around and talk incessantly about them.

Juno - A kind of Review

So we FINALLY got around to seeing Juno over the weekend and we loved it. A witty and sardonic script by Diablo Cody means Juno's examination of teen pregnancy takes on a really cool, non moralising (though it does in a more subtle manner) and grown up approach to what could have been just another teen pregnancy film with mallet styled warnings.

If you haven't seen Juno we urge you to do so. It's touchy topic and roll on verbal wit might be difficult for some to swallow, but look a little deeper and Juno is really something special. It's not predictable, it's not all sweetness and light, but it is a wonderful film. Kudos to the cast also, Ellen Page as Juno MacGuff is just astounding, Jennifer Garner as Vanessa is pained and wonderful and Allison Janney as Juno's step mom is just superb. Actually all of the actors and their characters are just fantastic. Hop down to the cineplex now!

Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day if you're celebrating. We decided since we're a little strapped for cash and also because it's fun to do things together, that instead of going out to a fancy restaurant for Valentine's Day, we would celebrate it together with el poochies in the house and bring the fancy restaurant to us!

So we cooked and made a nice three course meal that consisted of home made French onion soup with bread / cheese croutons for starters. Fresh chicken schnitzel with home made creamy potato gratin and a side of yellow string beans in butter sauce. For dessert it was our famous home made chocolate mousse with a white chocolate quinelle... Mmmm.

Chocolate filled bananas!!

Can't believe we forgot these. We thought Amanda would love these!! When we were at the Motor Show we went to Southbank and there was a little stall there selling chocolate filled bananas! I got a milk chocolate banana, amazed at how they did it since the banana was still in its skin! Anyway as you can see from the photos they truly are filled with chocolate, really lovely Mmmmm. Also there was all different chocolate types.

Anyway that's all, thought people might find it interesting.. the pics show one of the banana with a piece broken off to see inside and one of proof it was in its skin!

Superbowl XLII - Angela vs Tracy

Today was Superbowl XLII and it was Angela vs Tracy.. yes it was the New England Patriots vs the New York Giants. Sadly because we were both working we didn't get to see it properly, Tracy had to leave a third of the way in (she was only home as she had to do something for work she had to do on her home pc) and while I was watching I was having to write various articles. That said it was a good game and of course New York Giants won, much to most people's surprise given the Pats had an unbeaten season.

It was a pretty boring game anyway, until the last quarter. Tracy is happy the underdogs won and I am sad the Pats didn't get to break the unbeaten full year run including the Superbowl. It has to be said that play by Eli Manning when he escaped the sack and threw to David Tyree was gobsmacking.. so I admit defeat... anyway.. Tracy looks so cute when she smiles it's good her team won lol.

Saturday Adventures

Today we were very adventurous, we got up, got ready and jetted into Brisbane for the Brisbane International Motor Show. It was pretty big and had loads of lovely cars there, we took a few pics for you all.

Tracy loves the cute red beetle too much!

Sweet, but a little out of our price range!!

Maserati .. still too expensive lol

How many TV's does one car need!

After we did the rounds of the Brisbane Motor Show we decided to go over to the Gallery of Modern Art and check out the Andy Warhol Exhibition they have on. It was actually pretty good and had a lot of interesting pieces in it. The best bit was the silver balloons.. very clever. Sadly we couldn't take any photos as they weren't allowed.

We took a cute one outside though....
