Curb Your Enthusiasm people....

What have we been doing lately, well other than work.. work.. work.. work.. we've been watching Curb Your Enthusiasm. We like it so much we've watched 4 seasons in a couple of weeks. Larry and Cheryl are absolutely hilarious. It's weird because it takes a while to get into and you really need to watch them in order to 'get' it, but we both totally rate it. Oh it has a fair bit of profanity in it (mostly in context), so if you're adverse to that, well.. block your ears because this clip we're adding has a lot of it.

Let me set up the following scene. Larry has invested in a restaurant, it's an up market place, but they've inadvertently hired a chef with tourettes, it's opening night. Oh and prior to this Cheryl's friend thinks she made up a lie about getting stuck in a car wash to get out of meeting her.....

Australia Day 2008

If you're outside of Oz you might not realise that January 26 is Australia Day. This is a day when Aussies go out and celebrate being Australian... kind of like July 4th in America, but without the Independence bit ;o) Oh and it's a public holiday.. huzzah! Long weekend!

This Australia day we decided to go to the Gold Coast where the council had put on special celebrations. There was a rodeo, athletics, wood chopping, sheep shearing, rides, world foods, camel rides, singers, poets and loads of other stuff. it was a lovely sunny day and people were in great spirit. Below are a few shots of the day....

Loads of vehicles had flags on them, this was one we snapped as we drove past.

Surfers were out on those mad kite surfing things!

This was something so bizarre we took a photo.
What you have here is a busy roundabout, yes those in the middle of certain intersections. This one was being used as a cricket playing field!

On the way home we stopped for petrol and Micky D's was in front of us, so we took a photo of it just because it had the aussie flag flying and the sky was nice and blue!

We got home early enough that it was still beautiful outside, so we went for a swim in the pool. Nice way to spend the day and let's face it very Australian.

Natalie Gauci and French Food

Just a wee update since we've told people we would. Not much exciting to tell really, other than we forget to mention we had gone and seen Natalie Gauci (and Matt Corby) at the Australian Idol Tour last week. You can see a clip of Nat below. She won Australian Idol this year and was really good.

We also went to our favorite French restaurant on Tuesday night to celebrate our one full year anniversary in Oz. As always the food and service was superb. You can check out the website for it HERE.

Happy Anniversary! - 1 year Downunder

Yes today is the day and as it's the week leading up to Australia Day, it's actually pretty cool that we've been in Australia a year. When we arrived a year ago everything was so new and strange to us, now everything just feels normal. Despite the bad weather we've been having recently here in 'The Sunshine State' we're still really loving living here.

This coming weekend we'll be celebrating Australia Day someplace, probably the Gold Coast at Surfer's Paradise. Next year on Australia Day we're hoping to be celebrating a new Aussie citizen! No doubt we'll let you know here how that all goes. For now though it's back to work. Oh it's 32 degrees celcius here today... not to rub it in or anything ;op

Cloverfield - Oh Dear

Cloverfield is a new movie by J.J. Abrams, he's the guy that makes LOST, the TV series about those people on a weird island. Anyway, below you can see the Cloverfield trailer, it all looks so exciting... so exciting in fact that a few days ago we went to the Drive-In Theatre to see it, we kind of wish we hadn't.

Cloverfield could have been a good movie, it is wasn't for the shaky handheld camera effect being completely overdone and the fact it had NO story. We were really disappointed. I don't think it's out in the UK for awhile, which would usually suck for UKers, but in this case it means you can hear how bad it is before wasting money on it. If you like completely brainless / storyless action films, then maybe you'll like it. For us it was a big letdown.

We're baaaaack.......

After a few people mentioned we weren't updating our blog... ie this blog, with what we're up to, we felt bad so thought we'd start it up again. We'll be posting even really mundane / everyday stuff here though, so you have been warned!

Tomorrow we will have been in Australia for One Year! My how time surely does fly. Anyways, we're all settled in now and are enjoying it very much. We'll be letting you all know what we're up to right here, maybe once a day, we'll see how that goes. We're Baaaaaack!!
