Brisbane Bound - January!!!

Brisbane Australia - We're Coming Soon!

Ok so the plan was we'd be moving to Brisbane Queensland, from Glasgow Scotland around late June, but now it's all been pushed forward and we'll be heading downunder around January 17th! This has obviously thrown everything into top gear as we try and arrange a house, car, shipping and of course flights for us and le pooch.

It's certainly made the event more exciting because now we really have to start getting things moving! So far this week it's been mad. We got the shipping company to deliver the boxes on Monday and have packed 2 (fully) and another 3 half packed awaiting silica gel. We've also sent off the deposit for the land and the house, so hopefully once the contracts are in and we place the initial larger deposit, building can begin. They're quoting a 10 week build time at present, but no doubt it will be longer than that, still, at least things are happening. We're also 90% sure of the car we'll be getting now, with the KIA Sportage dealer giving us a great offer and he'll even drop it at the airport allegedly. We'll obviously know how all of this works out when we're actually there, but at the moment everything is looking positive.

So that's us all up to date pretty much, barely had time to do anything other than work and research for the big move! Will try and blog more as things happen. Honest.

Bug in the air...

So, before anyone starts worrying, no we haven't become so completely obsessed with watching Alias that we're paranoid that there's a bug in our room. What I am referring to with the title of this blog is nasty viral kind of bugs. I am home today when I should be at work, the reason for this is that everyone in the house is smitten with a horrible cold/flu like bug. We've been coughing and spluttering for the past two days, even our dog looks bored of it.

During my time off work today however, rather than lay in bed (which I probably should be doing) I have decided to be slightly more productive. I managed to write the third review for The London Daily Telegraph and it was on Ultimate Ghosts and Goblins on the PSP. A pretty dire game if you ask me. One that is simply too frustrating for this little gamer. I also was lucky enough to be asked to do some freelance work today on a particularly brilliant website named AfterEllen.com so I'm really hoping that I get to do that.

I am loving the writing that I'm doing at the moment and when we move to Brisbane I'd really like to do that full time. Obviously I love being a driving instructor also and enjoy the teaching aspects of that and the freedom to work when I choose, however writing is my love. Thankfully the lovely Angela has been supporting me in this whilst she's also slaving away working on blog sites to make money. It's all so handy that we have a mutual appreciation of the others loves and desires.

Now onto something completely random... I had a wasp in my car last week. Yes, no big deal you might think, but it scared the hell out of me that I could be so terrified of such a small insect. I was driving along the motorway and thoughts of dying horribly in a car crash swarmed (no pun intended) into my mind as I frantically tried to keep one eye on the road and one eye on the wasp. It made me realise that very big things can be scared of very tiny things. It also made me realise that perhaps the culture of fear we live in at the moment is testament to that. The big countries are damn scared of the little ones and so we swat them whilst we can, before they take a pop at us.... or at least before we believe they do.

Onto something completely unrelated (ahem) the 9/11 stories on TV recently. It's the 5th anniversary and I can't believe it's been that long already. I remember exactly where I was when 9/11 happened and I sat and cried for every one of those people who lost their lives that day. I wonder then what has happened to me recently, why is it that I can't watch these documentaries any more? I think that the reason is because I don't believe what we were told now. I always doubt what happened and the world has changed so drastically since then that I feel like we haven't learnt from it at all. Still, no big revelation there, that's what most people think it seems.

Without getting too depressing, I thought it'd be nice to end with a happy note. Our beloved Ambro has completed her 8 week course in dog training and she will hopefully be in the Glasgow Herald newspaper this week. She was one of the few dogs at the class who would go through the tunnel so a photographer took her photo. Awww bless. She rocks. xxx

Time Is A Ticking

Sidney Bristow Kicks Ass!

Where does the time actually go, it sometimes feels as if there just aren't enough hours in the day, certainly not enough to find the time to add to a personal blog when you're busy working for other people blogs. Not that I'm complaining, it helps to pay the bills.

Anyway, what have we been up to, not much really. We've gone through a weird phase the last few days, with nothing on the TV of interest, we've decided to finally try and watch some of the many DVD sets we've bought and never watched, starting with ALIAS. We're still in the first season at the moment, probably about half way through, it's pretty cool, other than a few things, like, why don't her friends wonder where she is all the time, flying all over the globe. Also Sidney Bristow is apparently able to not be bruised, broken or cut by any heavy handed attacks on her, since she never arrives home from a mission with cuts and abrasions. This does take away from the show a bit, but we're still enjoying it.

Other than that, we've been doing the usual Australia research we do every week, including looking at real estate, checking prices etc. The months are ticking by and we've sort of ground to a halt a little. We've decided to also make things a little more manic by planning a European driving tour prior to us leaving, so that we can check out some of Europe before moving to the other side of the globe. At the moment we're thinking we might do this early next year, or perhaps just prior to Christmas. Time will tell! Either way it will include Amsterdam, Germany, Italy and France (Paris particularly). Here's hoping.

Well that's us all up to date in the world of the blog.
Have a good one!
